As eloquently as we can describe what we feel, smell or taste when we talk about home, it is difficult to define the term in concrete terms. While the philosopher Karl Jaspers found that "home is where I understand and where I am understood", director Fatih Akin is content to describe home as a "state of mind".
Regardless of whether we understand home as a collective childhood memory or as a resonance chamber for the diverse relationships we enter into with our environment, one thing is clear: home is an important point of reference for many people - especially when home has been lost or a new home has been found. It always becomes important as a reference point when we find ourselves in times of upheaval. As a country of immigration that is currently dealing with numerous different upheavals and transformations at the same time, it seems particularly important for progressive forces to focus on the different dimensions of home.

We are looking forward to Natalie Pawlik (Federal Government Commissioner for Ethnic German Resettlers and National Minorities), Volkan Baran (Member of the State Parliament) and Dr. Jens Schneider (University of Osnabrück), among others. Also taking part: the satirist and stand-up comedian Abdul Kader Chahin and Said Etris Hashemi (activist and author).
