Zündorfer Wehrturm: "Das Nest in der Wasserpumpe"

During a visit to the Zündorf defense tower and a walk through the town in April 2024, the artists Pauline Berger, Peri de Bragança, Felix Kind and Takashi Sonoda observed an unusual moment: they saw a blue tit that had built its nest in an old, disused water pump. This observation was to become the starting point for their joint exhibition "The Nest in the Water Pump", which begins on Sunday, March 23, at 3 pm in the Zündorf defense tower: a disused object is transformed through the use of a living creature - from water pump to living space, from defense tower to art space. In their newly created works - sculptures, paintings, drawings, installations, videos and performances - they explore the relationship between space, living beings and home, shedding light on the timeless question of home and the challenges associated with the occupation of places.

While Pauline Berger combines ready-mades and artificial materials with handcrafted techniques and examines pressure and counter-pressure, Peri de Bragança translates her perception of nature and architecture into sculptures and objects. Felix Kind in turn combines natural and man-made forms to create new structures that unite organic and graphic elements. And Takashi Sonoda, meanwhile, creates narratives that link space and nature.
