13-year-old Analena climbed 27,000 meters in altitude and hiked 600 km without even liking hiking - on the contrary. After the tragic death of her dad, a world collapses for her and her mother Verena and the two spend the next two summers in the Canadian Rockies writing a hiking guide. Because Verena absolutely has to get out and, as a suddenly single parent, wants to do something useful. Without ever having done so, they both set off. Analena doesn't feel like it and Verena can't get enough of hiking: Where might this path lead? What might be around the next bend? Just a little bit higher, one step further, a little bit more.

They fight their way through snow and snowstorms, over ridges, passes and scree slopes, sneak through puma country, cover grueling foot marches, have risky bear encounters alone in the wild, climb steep mountain flanks, cross mosquito-infested areas, tackle energy-sapping multi-day tours and are visited by the last survivors of the wildland caribou. With the constant togetherness, conflicts are the order of the day, because it means hiking every day, setting off every day, being outside all the time - in the tent or in the car - always on the move, non-stop. However, the adventures they experience together and the peaks they conquer together bond them into a dream team. In the end.
