Zwischen Krieg und Hoffnung

In the exhibition "Between War and Hope", Agentur Focus and the St. Nikolai Memorial invite you to take an in-depth look at a complex topic that has accompanied mankind since time immemorial: War.

Each photograph tells a story of people's experiences in extreme situations, of moments of shock, waiting, hope, reconstruction and the search for peace. Conflicts overlap, traumas last for generations, and for many, war remains an incessant state - in which courageous forms of resistance sprout again and again. The exhibition is a multifaceted collection that provides insights into the emotional lives of people caught between destruction and confidence.

Regardless of the different backgrounds of the wars, the focus is on the universal nature of the effects that war has on people. Precisely because war is omnipresent in the media, there is a need for a conscious look at perspectives beyond the usual images and narratives that enable a more comprehensive understanding of war.

This exhibition is an invitation and an appeal to approach the images, people, stories and experiences with empathy and to commemorate what happened.

The exhibition is a cooperation between the St. Nikolai Memorial and the Focus agency.
