The paintings by Markulf Behrendt and Hannes-Peter Gilde promise an exciting examination of people and their relationships. Whether brought to the canvas with sketchy lightness or precisely formulated, the subtle nuances can be sensed.

Markulf Behrendt's paintings oscillate between expressive vitality and subtle poetry. Through his contour-emphasized style and a concise formal language, he succeeds in concentrating on the essentials. He creates tensions and contrasts by contrasting areas of color or emphasizing connections through subtle color coordination.

Hannes-Peter Gilde's oeuvre is divided into two creative phases, between which lies a long working life as a psychologist and psychoanalyst. While the older paintings are reminiscent of Pop Art, suggesting the period in which they were created, the artist's later works are concerned with capturing consciousness, the inner self.
