Around 490,000 guests at more than 460 events a year, with classical music and entertainment, programs for children, young people and families, congresses and events: behind the historic façade of the former Frankfurt Opera House lies a lively concert and congress venue that, despite its versatility, has a clear artistic profile.

World stars of classical music, i.e. the most important international conductors, soloists, ensembles and orchestras have been and continue to be regular guests at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, providing musical highlights. In addition, the Alte Oper sees itself as a center of programmatic work and distinguishes itself with its own thematic focuses: Every year, the season opens in September with a large-scale festival. Since the 2021/22 season, the motto has been "Fratopia" - a homage to its own city and at the same time an exploration of ideas for the future that affect society as much as the concert business. Newly conceived concerts bring audiences and performers closer together and provide a direct musical experience. The close connection to the city of Frankfurt is also reflected in other formats, such as the "Salon Frankfurt" series and the "Auswärtsspiele". With short festivals lasting one or more days, the Alte Oper also draws attention to individual genres or themes and sees itself as a place of lively discourse.

It is also part of the house's self-image to take the little ones seriously as concert guests and to offer them intensive concert experiences with a tailor-made program. Under the motto "PEGASUS", the Alte Oper offers a wide range of events, including specific concerts and workshops for all ages from 0 to 21, aimed at families as well as crèches, kindergartens and schools.
