The Old Garden in Schwerin is a historic square in the center of the city, located directly on Lake Schwerin. It is considered one of the most beautiful neoclassical squares in northern Germany. It is surrounded by important buildings such as Schwerin Castle, the State Theater, the Schwerin Museum and the State Chancellery building (formerly the stables).

The square itself is generously laid out, open to the water with a view of the castle. In the middle is an equestrian statue of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II, which was unveiled in 1893. Today, the Old Garden often serves as a venue for concerts, open-air theater and public celebrations.
