Art rental for everyone & gallery of contemporary local art
At the Artothek, you can borrow one or more of the 2,000 or so original works of art from our collection for your home or office for just a few euros a month. Simply ask our team for advice on site (directly between Rindermarkt and Viktualienmarkt) and take it with you!

As one of the six art spaces of the Munich Department of Culture, we also offer professional, contemporary artists from the local art scene the opportunity to present their art to the public every year in solo, group and themed exhibitions in the Bildersaal.

We also regularly host artist talks, performances, guided tours and workshops related to our current exhibitions and collection.

Relocation of the Artothek & Picture Gallery
Due to the extensive renovation of the Stadtmuseum, our art room has to move. We will therefore be closed from 01.06. to 30.09.2025 inclusive.

From 01.10.2025 you will find our picture rental at our new address: Burgstr. 4, 80331 Munich (near Marienplatz)
