Café NENE

In the location's words:

"DEDE" is Turkish and means "grandpa", while"NENE" means"grandma".

We, five siblings from Augsburg, dedicate the cafés to our grandpa and grandma. Our grandparents came to Germany more than 60 years ago as so-called "guest workers", who actually had completely different plans for their lives:

With just a suitcase in their hands, they actually intended to work in Germany for just a few months and then return home to relatives and friends.

But fate had a different plan for them. We are now the 4th generation to live here in Augsburg.

With this café, we would like to celebrate the lives not only of our grandparents, but also of many other guest workers who worked very hard so that their children and grandchildren would have a better life than they did. After all, our current prosperity in Germany is largely due to the fact that all our grandparents rebuilt this country together under very tough working conditions.

With this in mind, we have furnished the café in the style of grandma and grandpa's home and would like to share our history with you.
