Can't it be Sunday every day? For most of us, this is the day to relax. The day when you don't look at your cell phone all the time. The day when you sleep a little longer. Going for a walk. Meeting up with friends or family. Visiting grandma. Eating cake. Or just hanging out on the couch. And still eats cake. ;)

This is exactly the feeling that dear Karo wanted to capture. And extend it. Can't every day be Sunday? That's what Café Sonntag is supposed to stand for.

And yes, it is a café. With coffee roasts from the KaffeeLoft. And cakes that grandma or her best friend could have baked. Or, of course, a guy who's good at baking. Homemade and with that certain something. Vegan and gluten-free variants are also included.

But it should also be more than just a café. Karo previously worked in the event industry. And that will be reflected in the concept - in addition to private events, there will also be numerous regular events. If they are allowed again. For example, seasonal stories like a Spanish Week in the summer or pop-up actions by Dortmund artists. Karo's dream: People walk through the city, want to do something and think "Let's go to Café Sonntag - there's bound to be something going on!

She has put a lot of effort into the store. There - in Essener Straße in the Kreuzviertel - was previously a bakery for a quarter of a century. Accordingly, a lot of renovation work had to be done. The result is a feel-good oasis with a young design, a mix of modern and retro, chic and cozy, in which wood always plays a subliminal role. A bit like your own living room. The super cool interior comes from local stores like Schischi and Freiräume, among others, and was put together with a lot of attention to detail.

Karo is always available for a chat over the counter between coffee and cake. She likes to take time for her guests. The fact that she is a woman of conviction can also be seen in the fact that she dared to open a café in the middle of the pandemic - and doesn't regret it. She can hardly wait until things can finally get underway with events and such. And neither can we!
