The Pumpe Kiel is much more than just an event venue, as it is a real piece of the city's history and one of the most exciting cultural addresses in northern Germany. Originally built in 1929 as a pumping station, the listed building is now home to a versatile cultural and communication center that has been shaping Kiel's cultural scene since the late 1970s.

Live music, cinema, theater and political discussions all come together under one roof at the Pumpe Kiel. The Great Hall is particularly popular, regularly hosting concerts by indie bands, punk acts, hip-hop artists and DJs with space for up to 750 guests. The atmosphere is urban, alternative and open to all things creative. No wonder the location won the Backstage Clubaward in 2020 for particularly good conditions for artists.
