Fontane-Haus

The Fontane House was opened in 1976 and is located in the Märkisches Viertel. From the beginning, events within the framework of Reinickendorf Classcis Berlin have always taken place here, since 2008 the FAMILY CLASSICS with concerts for children and families. It is always worth a visit, because in addition to the event hall with up to 1,000 visitor seats, the Fontane House houses, among other things, a citizens' office, the Graphothek and a library. Max Raabe & the Palace Orchestra, the legendary Russian prima ballerina Maja Plissezkaja and numerous children's musicals have already made guest appearances at the Fontane House. In January 2010, a new edition of the legendary and globally acclaimed "MTV Unplugged" concerts was recorded here. A total of about 180 to 200 events take place each year.
Various events have made the house famous even abroad. For example, guests here were: Christian Berg with the children's musicals "Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer", "Das Dschungelbuch" and "Pinocchio", the German Chamber Orchestra, Dieter Hildebrandt, Karel Gott, Klaus Hoffmann, MTV Umplugged - SIDO Live aus'm MV, Phantom der Oper as well as in the context of Family Classics the German Opera Berlin with "Kinder tanzen für Kinder", children's and family concerts with the "Kammerorchester Unter den Linden" and concerts with "Rumpelstil".

The Fontanehaus also houses the Bürgeramt Märkisches Viertel, the Graphothek Berlin, the library, the Volkshochschule Reinickendorf, the Musikschule Reinickendorf, the American Western Saloon Berlin-Reinickendorf, the senior citizens' recreation center "Club der Lebensfrohen" and last but not least the Märkisches Zentrum.
