Fuchsturm

First mentioned as Königshof Kirchberg on the Hausberg near Jena in 937, the "new" Kirchberg Castle was built on the present site from 1100 onwards, the keep of which has been preserved and is now a popular excursion destination as the "Fuchsturm". The Fuchsturm Society has been committed to preserving the site since 1861, most recently in 1997 with the comprehensive renovation of the Fuchsturmhaus. Following the redesign of the interior in November 2010, Thomas Moenke and his team are now the new "Burgvogt" (bailiff) and host of the Fuchsturm restaurant.
