HALLE 14 - Zentrum für zeitgenössische Kunst

As a non-profit art center, HALLE 14 is a venue, thinking space and place of communication for contemporary art on the site of the Leipzig cotton mill. With the intention of a "luxury of emptiness" in mind, art enthusiasts have been gradually creating unique spaces for the reception and production of art in spacious, listed Gründerzeit halls since 2002.

International art is shown in changing group exhibitions in the large exhibition hall. An extensive art library invites visitors to read and linger in the multifunctional visitor center. Lectures, discussions and performances are regularly held here. The art education department organizes workshops, courses and guided tours for children, young people, schools and adults. Residencies and exchange programs are offered for visual artists. There is also a digital photo lab and 16 studios for international and Leipzig-based artists as well as seven workshops.

This careful development from a vacant industrial monument to a lively art center was awarded the Hieronymus Lotter Prize for Monument Preservation in 2012 and the Saxon State Prize for Building Culture in 2015. HALLE 14 has already been nominated four times for the ADKV/Art Cologne Prize for Art Associations in 2011, 2016, 2020 and 2022.

Over the past decades, the Spinnereigelände(www.spinnerei.de) has developed into a dense art sociotope with over a dozen galleries and project spaces, 130 studios, various creative offices, a cinema, café and much more. The SpinnereiGalerien tours(www.spinnereigalerien.de) take place here three times a year, attracting many thousands of art lovers.
