The Catacombs Theater sees itself as a theater of the future, a model for living together across ethnic, cultural and political borders, as a laboratory of secular humanism and freedom. Life without culture is like life without air and water.

This task includes cultural education as well as aesthetic experiments and discussions about new forms. Culture without borders with lived diversity and complexity forms the core of our program:

• Fiesta De Salsa (dance in the spirit of intercultural understanding with DJ Carlos)

• Catacombs Intercultural avant-garde theater, literature, cultural education
• ClassicalUnderground (with Önder Baloğlu)
• Transaesthetics (oriental jazz in a world music context with Kazım Çalışgan)

Based on the sensuality of art, we practice theater as a forum and stage for the diversity of species and genres, different genres, perspectives and multimedia. With our KulturAkademie-Ruhr, we also focus our attention on the communication of ideas, creativity and culture and dedicate ourselves to cultural education in both theoretical and practical terms.

We want a lively, diverse and life-oriented sensualist culture - humanistic, aesthetic and poetic. Let us poeticize life together.

In order to realize, stabilize and further develop our offer, we need the support of many cosmopolitan and culture-loving friends for a space of sensual, cosmopolitan, pluralistic humanism and tolerance.
