The last remaining Prussian post office in the Rhineland is located in the middle of Neuss - a real piece of history! It was built in 1879, but was completely gutted in 1987-89 and redesigned as the Alte Post cultural forum. Today it is known simply as the "Alte Post".

The former parking lot in front of the building has been transformed into a small, cozy urban space, and the old post office courtyard has become a green garden with a beautiful terrace - perfect for lingering.

On a total of four levels with around 1,600 square meters, there are three interlinked areas: the school for art and theater, the municipal gallery and a cabaret stage for events. There is also the privately run Café Alte Post with a popular beer garden - culture meets pleasure!

The School for Art and Theater originally started as a model project for teenagers and young adults between the ages of 15 and 27, but over time the range of activities has been extended to all age groups - whether young or old, the main thing is to be creative!

The Neuss Musical Weeks have been a real highlight since 1995. Together with the Neuss Music School, a major premiere is celebrated every year - a real event for all musical fans.

The municipal gallery brings contemporary art to a wide audience and promotes young artists in particular. The annual "Art from Neuss" exhibition, where creative people from the city and the district can present their works, is a permanent fixture.

A lot has changed since the Alte Post was founded 35 years ago - especially for creative children and young people. The original creators have since retired and handed over responsibility to a young, fresh team. Today, the Alte Post is a cultural meeting place for Neuss residents of all ages and has long since made a name for itself beyond the city limits.

The old post office building at Neustraße 28 is currently being renovated. This offers the perfect opportunity to rethink the concept and bring it up to date. If everything goes according to plan, the team will be able to move back into the modernized building at the end of 2025.
