In the location's words:

The author and owner of the art and literature studio Galerie-7 in Bottrop is a child of Emscherland. Growing up between the Emscher, Lippe and Ruhr rivers, she discovered her love of writing at school at an early age. She lives in Bottrop with her husband and two grown-up children.

She has published a novel, two children's books and several texts in anthologies and literary magazines. Mostly, however, she writes short stories about life. Sometimes sad, sometimes mischievous, then again full of exuberance, she approaches her texts. Every now and then she builds her characters out of metaphors. Her stories do you good, make you think and cheer you up. Stories of walking, of resting, of life.

The writer and visual artist Artur K. Führer was her mentor and encouraged her to submit her texts to competitions and publishers. After successfully taking part in his literary workshops at Galerie-7, she went on reading tours with him, including in his birthplace, the small village of Großensee in Thuringia. When he went blind, she wrote his texts for him, which he dictated to her.

In 1961, Artur K. Führer founded the Galerie-7 art and literary office in Bottrop. Author readings and art exhibitions were held there regularly from 1968 onwards. In recent years it has been quieter there. Only literary workshops were held in the rooms.

At that time, Bettina Döblitz decided to take over Galerie-7 and maintain it in his spirit. In 2016, AKF died suddenly and she was allowed to take over Galerie-7, including the name.

She changed the name to Kunst- und Literaturstudio Galerie-7 and added live concerts by singer-songwriters and small bands to the program.

As Bettina Döblitz wants to give everyone access to culture, she does NOT charge admission to the events but lets the artist's hat circle. So everyone can give what they think they can.

The proceeds are split 1:1 between the artist/author or musician and Galerie-7. It is a matter close to her heart to bring artists and people interested in culture together for a creative exchange.

She runs Galerie-7 as a non-profit organization and finances everything exclusively privately and through donations. Her aim is to further establish Galerie-7 as a socio-cultural meeting place.

Rent, electricity, insurance, GEMA, advertising and much more naturally add up and can hardly be covered by hat donations.

That is why she is still looking for financial supporters.
