Our history
The Lamm-Lichtspiele is the oldest movie theater still in operation in Erlangen. The first screening took place on our premises back in 1919. At that time, the cinema was still called the Kammer-Lichtspiele, but was given its current name, Lamm-Lichtspiele, in the mid-1920s. The cinema has been operating as an art house cinema since 1998. Since 2000, the Lamm-Lichtspiele has been awarded the German and Bavarian Cinema Program Prize every year.
The Zum weißen Lamm wine bar is part of the cinema and offers a selection of exquisite wines, various homemade cakes and small snacks. The small restaurant offers the perfect opportunity to round off a nice movie night in comfort.
Until September 2017, the Lamm-Lichtspiele was run jointly with the Manhattan cinemas. The theater ceased operations after we were unable to agree on a new lease with the landlord of the property.
