Kreuzberg's rock-indie-electro-pop living room couch is located in the middle of the Wrangelkiez, on the corner of Cuvry and Schlesische Strasse. HISTORY BEING MADE. In the 1950s and 60s of the previous century, Schlesische Straße was Kreuzberg's cineaste alley par excellence. East Berliners who wanted to see films from the West could not avoid the LIDO. In the 1970s, the establishment, then called "Westside," was a trendsetter in rock 'n' roll. But everything has its time, and in the exciting '80s, the charming house with the round corners needed a little time out and served as a rehearsal space for the Berlin Schaubühne. "Enough idleness," thought the current landlords a few years ago and revitalized the old property. So finally, in May 2006, the doors could open again. Since then, LIDO has been one of the city's important and hip clubs, especially in Kreuzberg, of course. Maximo Park, Cocorosie, Sportfreunde Stiller and the Beatsteaks were already great and satisfied guests of the house. The walls of the LIDO can tell so many stories; always with style.
