The machwerkhaus köln serves as a center for design and urban production for the fusion of creative industries, crafts, technology and trade in order to enable and promote local and circular value creation processes. Manufactories, craft businesses, design labels, impact-oriented start-ups, prototype builders, design and planning offices as well as innovative small and micro enterprises in the circular economy are given the opportunity to develop, manufacture, assemble, present and sell their products and services on a total area of almost 20,000 square meters at fair and flexible rental conditions.

Visitors to the machwerkhaus are given an insight into the development and manufacture of products. Twice a year, a machwerkschau is held as an exhibition on design and urban production. Actors selected by a jury present their prototypes and products that they have developed and manufactured at the interface of design, craftsmanship and the circular economy . In the future, a market hall is planned where products from local production and repair services will be offered.
