Discover nature, experience science
Stand under prehistoric giants, dive into the fish fauna of Lake Möhne, see colorful crystals sparkle in black light and catch a glimpse of the formation of our solar system - all this and many other exciting things await you at the Dortmund Nature Museum.
Sunken and present-day habitats and their species await you. In the geological exhibition, you will be guided through a comprehensive collection from the last ice age to the Cretaceous period. But we don't want to spoil everything for you. It's best to discover the fantastic exhibits for yourself and embark on a great little adventure through the ages.
Admission to the permanent exhibition is free of charge!
New special exhibition from April 5, 2025!
From April 5, the exhibition Forest Ants. Superheroines on 6 legs shows award-winning photographs by Ingo Arndt. Large-format images document their hidden life in all its facets - from nest building and temperature regulation to foraging and information exchange to the defense of the colony and the queen.
Further highlights: The large circular viewing tank with a capacity of around 90,000 liters of water and the huge skeleton of a woolly mammoth cow - very impressive. We never cease to be amazed every time we visit.
