From the Renaissance to the Baroque period, Nuremberg was an important European center for the production of astronomical instruments as well as astronomical research and teaching. Illustrious names such as Martin Behaim, Regiomontanus, Georg Christoph Eimmart and Albrecht Dürer are inextricably linked with the history of astronomy in Nuremberg. Today, visitors to the Planetarium and the Nuremberg Observatory can immerse themselves in the secrets of the universe with the help of state-of-the-art technology. The Nicolaus Copernicus Planetarium especially welcomes young visitors for Peter's Ride to the Moon or astronomy courses suitable for children.
Around 70,000 visitors a year are whisked away into the fascinating world of galaxies, stars, planets and moons. Dome-filling fulldome shows take you on breathtaking journeys into the cosmos.
We literally pull the stars out of the sky for you. But that's not all: in our themed shows, we tell stories about the universe and the world around us - playful, exciting and fairytale-like for the little ones, informative and entertaining for the grown-ups.
The spectrum of our offerings ranges from generally understandable events for interested laypeople to scientific discussions: in addition to astronomy, we also cover topics from technology, science and mathematics. There are also a variety of cultural events, from brilliant music shows and concerts to readings and exciting art projections in the dome.
Tickets for the Nuremberg Planetarium can be purchased in advance directly at the Planetarium box office during opening hours or reserved in advance. Reserved tickets must be collected at least 30 minutes before the start of the event, otherwise the reservation will be forfeited.
