Skulpturenhalle Neuss

The Skulpturenhalle is located in the middle of a unique art district, surrounded by exciting cultural venues: the Museum Insel Hombroich, the Kirkeby Field, the former rocket station (now also an exhibition venue) and the Langen Foundation. Together, they form a privately initiated art area - and the sculpture hall fits in perfectly.

What immediately catches the eye is the special exterior façade: wooden slats stretch across the concrete walls, giving the elongated hall the appearance of a delicate scaffolding. The striking, widely visible roof with its convex shell shape arches over it. Next to it is a small office building with a ticket office, library and curator's office. Particularly striking: the chimney-like structure, which is actually a clever light well for the office.

The hall itself extends over two floors and is entirely dedicated to contemporary sculptures. On the first floor, you enter the exhibition space where current works are presented. Below this, in the basement, is the warehouse - an important workspace for artists and the associated foundation.

The heart of the hall is an intimate, specially designed room that is clearly recognizable as the work of artist Thomas Schütte thanks to its special shape and choice of materials. The signature of the architect and artist is thus palpable throughout the entire sculpture hall!
