Movies under the stars in the Black Monastery

Every year in July and August, we show the best films of the past year in the cozy courtyard of the Black Monastery, plus a dozen previews and a handful of classics . The 23rd Summer Night Cinema runs from June 26 to September 6. The entire program and all information can be found on the Summer Night Cinema website

Admission 30 minutes before the start of each screening.

You can only pay with cash at the bar - no card payments, not even with the Cinecard!

Movie start

Films start when it is sufficiently dark, namely from June 26 - July 8 at 10:00 pm, from July 9 - 22 at 9:45 pm, from July 23 to August 5 at 9:30 pm, from August 6 - 12 at 9:15 pm, from August 13 - 26 at 9:00 pm, and from August 27 - September 6 at 8:45 pm.

Please don't come just before - we start on time and we can't let you all in at once! Please also remember towear weatherproofclothing, because once a performance has started, we will play through to the end, even if there is a shower!

Our procedure in uncertain or rainy weather conditions

If the weather is uncertain or rainy, we will decide at 8 p.m. and from August 13 at 7.30 p.m. whether the performance will take place. You can then find out here on the Summer Night Cinema website or by calling the Friedrichsbau box office (0761 - 36031). In the event of cancellation, the price of online tickets will beautomatically refunded; tickets purchased at our box offices can be returned at the box office; this can also be done on the following day.

Please note: In consideration of the many fans of the Summer Night Cinema, who do not make their attendance dependent on the weather, we will usually play even if the weather is unfavorable. You can then decide for yourself whether you would like to come or cancel your ticket. Online tickets can be canceled online up to one hour before the start of the screening and box office tickets can be returned at the box offices of our cinemas up to one hour before the start of the screening.

Consumption and drinks

It is not permitted to bring in food.

You can buy drinks, confectionery and cinema snacks as well as our delicious popcorn at the counter in the entrance area. A tip from us: Visit the Pizzeria La Piazza in the courtyard next door before the movie. It's just as beautiful as ours.

The entrance to the Summer Night Cinema in the inner courtyard of the Schwarzes Kloster at Rotteckring 12 is opposite the C&A department store between the adult education center and Café Schwarzes Kloster.
