A look at the history of Tremonia Park in Dortmund

"Tremonia"... I wonder what that means? The term is actually the medieval Latin name for the city of Dortmund. The green and recreational area, which was developed between 1993 and 1996, is located on an old industrial area. At some point, this name was transferred from Tremoniastrasse and the Tremonia colliery to the park. The art installations scattered around the park, known as "Klöpperböden", which were components of pressure vessels, are reminiscent of the industrial use. They look a bit like half-shells.

Tremonia Park in Dortmund is located in the west of the city center, more precisely in the west of the Kreuzviertel district. It lies between Tremoniastrasse, Kuithanstrasse and Leierweg. As it is so centrally located, you can easily reach it by public transport. You can either take the S-Bahn and get off at the "Dortmund West" stop or take the U-Bahn, which stops close to the park at the "Kreuzstraße" stop.

If you are longing for a relaxing break after the hustle and bustle of the city center, you can also easily walk from the city center to the park, as the park's path system has been designed to create the most direct routes possible to reach the city center.
