Uferstudios

The Uferstudios for contemporary dance are a landmarked area with 16 spacious studios, several offices and studios. Between the two entrances at Badstraße 41a and at the chimney at Uferstraße 23, a large courtyard invites visitors to linger or engage in artistic action and provides handicapped-accessible access to almost all rooms. Since the renovation, which was funded by the Stiftung Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin, and the opening in 2010, the Uferstudios have offered choreographers, dancers and other artists the space to work professionally in an inspiring environment that focuses on openness and participation. The idea behind the Uferstudios model is to bring together artistic production, training and information in a synergetic way - the different uses come together to form an exciting prism: this is where artists who temporarily rent studios for rehearsals or events, students and lecturers from the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin, artists and staff from Tanzfabrik Berlin, ada-Studio and Tanzbüro Berlin meet. Here, rehearsals, research, work and study can take place 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Open formats strengthen the connection to the neighborhood and the respective partners offer regular events. The program of the Uferstudios as a location is formed by the profile and the respective focus of its partners located here. In regular meetings, all partners work together on opening up to the city and on the local and international networking of the artists working here. The Uferstudios are free space for the artists, students and scientists producing here and grow with their ideas and activities.
