UNIKATUM Kinder- und Jugendmuseum

The UNIKATUM Children's and Youth Museum creates annually changing, interactive hands-on exhibitions for and with children and adults. The aim is to design social contexts as "walk-in" images that come to life through the actions of the visitors and thus encourage active participation in shaping society. In this way
the children's museum reaches more and more visitors every year, currently around 45,000.

UNIKATUM is the only independent children's and youth museum in eastern Germany. It will be 15 years old in 2025! In addition to its unique position as a hands-on museum in the field of cultural education, the children's museum has developed into a socio-cultural center that is specifically visited by families / grandparents with children from 0 to 14 years of age for joint leisure activities. Through participatory formats such as the annual summer workshop, project days, voting stations within the exhibition and public participatory competitions, it is open to a broad target group to enrich the thematic exhibitions with their own works and ideas or to participate in them in advance.
