Founded in 1946/1947, the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte (ZI) is the only non-university art historical research institute in Germany. Located inthe heart of Munich's art district on Königsplatz, the institute is a central service institution with one of the world's largest and most important art history libraries, the image collections of its photo library, numerous online offerings and databases as well as a dense program of public academic events and offers an excellent research environment for art historical research.
The ZI is located in a historic building on Königsplatz, the former "administration building" of the NSDAP.During a visit, you can find out about the history of the building and the party quarter.
