The two half-Cuban musicians Lázara Rosell Albear (percussion, trumpet) and Isabel Anders (piano) met in Berlin in 2023. With the duo 8Y7, they pursue the approach of combining, developing and transforming Cuban traditional rhythms with composition and free improvisation. The project is inspired by the Afro-American Yoruba mythology. In practice, the special traditions therein include a kind of theatrical staging with special instruments, drum beats and chants, as well as dance steps. 8Y7 have invited Domingo George Espichicoque to their concert as a guest musician.
