Polarbaeren bedeutet: Armando Chappuis, Chris Gebhard, Mattia Facchini, Basil Schreyer, elektro-akustisches Setup, ausgerechnete Grooves, Fieldrecordings, Beatswitches, eklektizistische Konzepte und mehrschichtige Kompositionsverfahren. Nach ihrem ersten Release im Herbst 2023 - dem interdisziplinären Projekt „Das Karussell“ - erscheint nun die Debut-EP „EIS!“. Was ist Neu? Das Live-Bandgeplänkere wich mikroskopischen Computerproduktionen und als fünftes Bandmitglied führt eine AI-Stimme das streamende Publikum durch knapp 23 Minuten Musik. Als musikalisches Grundgerüst dienen auf dem Morteratschgletscher aufgenommene Feldaufnahmen in originaler sowie synthetisch verarbeiteter Form, welche um die 5 Tracks und 3 Interludes (Cycles) einen klaren konzeptionellen Rahmen spannen. Mein Instagram zeigt mir jeden Tag, dass die Welt Fieber hat. Die Bilder zusammenhängender gesellschaftlicher Probleme und Naturkatastrophen treiben mir Schweiss ins Gesicht. Zum Glück sind wir noch weit weg von dem ganzen Übel. Oder doch schon mittendrin? Sind wir am Anfang oder kurz vor dem Ende? Hoffnungsvoll oder gelähmt? Aktion oder Reaktion? Still oder bewegt? After their first release in fall 2023 - the interdisciplinary project “Das Karussell” - they are now releasing their debut EP “EIS!”. What's new? The liveband-banter has given way to microscopic computer productions and, as the fifth band member, an AI voice guides the audience through about 23 minutes of music. Fieldrecordings taken on the Morteratsch glacier in both original and synthesized form serve as the musical framework, spanning a conceptual arc around the 5 tracks and 3 interludes (cycles). Everyday, my Instagram shows me that the world has a fever. The images of interrelated social problems and natural disasters make my face sweat. Fortunately, we are still far away from all of this. Or are we already in the middle of it? Are we at the beginning or just before the end? Hopeful or paralyzed? Action or reaction? Stagnant or moving? But now enough confrontation.
