HOLY SHIT ist eine künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit der Beziehung zwischen Glauben und Körper, zwischen Andacht und Ausschluss, zwischen dem Heiligen und dem Alltäglichen. Ausgangspunkt ist ein Ort, der wie kaum ein anderer für das Verdrängte, das Intime, das Abgewertete steht: ein stillgelegtes Toilettenhaus. Ein Raum, der einst der Notdurft diente, wird nun zum temporären Sakralraum.

In einer Zeit, in der der Glaube an Gott immer mehr aus dem öffentlichen Leben verschwindet, bleibt diese Religion seltsam präsent – in unserer Sprache, in unseren Ritualen, in unserer Sehnsucht nach Sinn. „Oh mein Gott“, „heilige Scheiße“ bis hin zu unseren Vornamen – wir sprechen weiter in den Spuren des Heiligen, oft ohne es zu merken. Was bedeutet das, in einer Gesellschaft, die sich säkular nennt, aber voller Sakralreste lebt?

Glaube und Körper, Andacht und Ausschluss, Scham und Gemeinschaft – HOLY SHIT bringt das Profane mit dem Heiligen ins Gespräch, deckt Verbindungen im Widersprüchlichen auf. In einem Ort der Intimität und Ausgrenzung wird nach dem verlorenen Gott gesucht – und nach dem Teufel gleich mit. Was passiert, wenn das Klo zum Altar wird, der Rückzugsort zur Kapelle? Hier entsteht ein Raum, in dem das Unaussprechliche sichtbar wird – ein Ort für das Heilige im Alltäglichen und das Gemeinsame im Verdrängten.

Zwischen Gerüchen, Gebeten und gesellschaftlichen Tabus entsteht ein Spannungsfeld, in dem das Profane nicht gegen das Heilige ausgespielt, sondern bewusst damit verschränkt wird. Es geht um die Möglichkeit, dass dort, wo wir uns selbst zurückziehen, vielleicht etwas Gemeinsames beginnt.

HOLY SHIT is an artistic exploration of the relationship between faith and the body, between devotion and exclusion, between the sacred and the everyday. The starting point is a place that stands like no other for the repressed, the intimate, the devalued: a disused toilet block. A room that once served as a place of need now becomes a temporary sacred space.

At a time when belief in God is increasingly disappearing from public life, this religion remains strangely present – in our language, in our rituals, in our longing for meaning. “Oh my God”, “holy shit” right down to our first names – we continue to speak in the footsteps of the sacred, often without realizing it. What does this mean in a society that calls itself secular but lives full of sacred remnants?

Faith and the body, devotion and exclusion, shame and community – HOLY SHIT brings the profane into conversation with the sacred, uncovering connections in the contradictory. In a place of intimacy and exclusion, a search is made for the lost God  and for the devil at the same time. What happens when the toilet becomes an altar, the retreat a chapel? A space is created here in which the unspeakable becomes visible – a place for the sacred in the everyday and the common in the repressed.

Between smells, prayers and social taboos, a field of tension is created in which the profane is not played off against the sacred, but consciously intertwined with it. It is about the possibility that where we withdraw ourselves, perhaps something common begins.
