Das Indie-Kino lebt! Und zeigt sich von seiner fantasievollsten Seite. Gleich der Er- öffnungsfilm ist eine fantastische Entdeckung jener Art, für die das Fantasy Filmfest schon immer stand: GOOD BOY ist ein innovativer und großartig fotografierter Horrorfilm aus der Perspektive eines Hundes – der zufällig auch noch Indy heißt. Auch unser Centerpiece EXIT 8, die gleichnamige Verfilmung des Indie-Gamehits, begeistert mit seiner eindringlichen, kafkaesken Höllenvision, und natürlich ist auf Quentin Dupieux‘ staubtrockenen Humor, dem wir mit THE PIANO ACCIDENT das Director’s Spotlight widmen, wie immer Verlass. Das rasante Finale bildet als Abschlussfilm das Superheld:innen-Spektakel HI-FIVE, ein wunderbarer Frontalangriff auf sämtliche Lachmuskeln. Die Gelegenheit sollte man tatsächlich nutzen, denn zugegeben, es gibt nicht so viel zu lachen in diesem Jahr. Dafür umso mehr zu zittern und zu leiden, wie mit dem unbehaglichen MAN FINDS TAPE, dem schockierenden Exorzismus-Horror ROQIA, dem brachialen Rachefeldzug MARCO oder dem außergewöhnlichen Zombie-Thriller WE BURY THE DEAD mit Daisy Ridley. Und auch monströs geht es dieses Jahr zu: So eine geballte Ladung an Ungeheuern, Fabelwesen und Alien-Kreaturen gab es selten in einer Ausgabe – freut euch auf ANGEL’S EGG, DEATHSTALKER, NIGHTMARE BUGS, OMNISCIENT READER: THE PROPHECY und THE TOXIC AVENGER! Und endlich ist auch mal wieder ein intensiver und verstörender deutschsprachiger Beitrag im Programm: WELCOME HOME BABY von Andreas Prochaska!

The indie spirit is alive – and more imaginative than ever! Right from the opening film, we dive into the kind of fantastic discovery the Fantasy Filmfest has always stood for: GOOD BOY is a stunningly shot, innovative horror story told from the perspective of a dog — who just so happens to be named Indy. Our Centerpiece EXIT 8, the adaptation of the indie game hit of the same name, captivates with its haunting, Kafkaesque nightmarish vision. And of course, you can always count on Quentin Dupieux’s bone-dry humor. We’re celebrating him in this year’s Director’s Spotlight with THE PIANO ACCIDENT. The grand finale comes with closing night film HI-FIVE, a superhero spectacle that’s a full-on attack on your funny bone. A rare opportunity, because let’s face it: there’s not much to laugh about this year. But there’s plenty to tremble and suffer through — with the unsettling MAN FINDS TAPE, the shocking exorcism horror ROQIA, the brutal revenge tale MARCO, and the unique zombie thriller WE BURY THE DEAD, starring Daisy Ridley. And yes, this year is truly monstrous: so many beasts, mythical creatures, and alien fiends packed into one edition — get ready for ANGEL’S EGG, DEATHSTALKER, NIGHTMARE BUGS, OMNISCIENT READER: THE PROPHECY, and THE TOXIC AVENGER!
