Frente Cumbiero

[DEU] Frente Cumbiero sind eine der prägendsten Formationen der zeitgenössischen Cumbia in Lateinamerika. Unter der Leitung des kolumbianischen Produzenten Mario Galeano Toro gelten sie als Speerspitze der neuen Cumbia-Bewegung. Als Live-Quartett verbinden sie Bläser, Percussion und elektronische Sequenzen zu einem kraftvollen, tanzbaren Sound. Internationale Festivalauftritte führten sie u. a. nach New York (MoMA), Roskilde, Fuji Rock und Womad. Sie tourten durch Lateinamerika, Afrika, Europa, die USA, Russland, Japan, Australien und Neuseeland. Mit der japanischen Band Minyo Crusaders entstand 2020 die gefeierte EP Minyo Cumbiero. Frente Cumbiero sind keine Modeerscheinung – seit über 10 Jahren leben sie Cumbia nach dem Ruf der Guacharaca. 

[ENG] With a long and successful career, Frente Cumbiero are one of the most influential acts in contemporary Cumbia from Latin America. Led by Colombian producer Mario Galeano Toro, they are seen as pioneers of the new Cumbia movement. As a live quartet, they fuse horns, percussion, and electronic sequences into a powerful, dance-driven sound. Their international performances include festivals such as MoMA PS1 (New York), Roskilde, Fuji Rock, and Womad. They’ve toured across Latin America, Africa, Europe, the US, Russia, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2020, they released the acclaimed Minyo CumbieroEP with Japan’s Minyo Crusaders. Active for over a decade, and going way beyond the concept of cumbia as fashion, Frente Cumbiero are the true followers of the guacharaca calling.
