Das Tanztheater-Kollektiv OOPSALA setzt sich mit ihrem neuen Stück „IM WAL“ künstlerisch mit der Verschmutzung der Meere auseinander.  Durch fantasievolle Choreografien nehmen die drei Tänzer: innen das Publikum mit in die wunderschöne Unterwasserwelt. Plötzlich kommen immer größer und lauter werdende Wellen und Geräusche, die Bühne beginnt zu beben und -schwupps, finden sich alle im Bauch des Wals wieder. Dort herrscht gähnende Leere, bis auf ein paar Luftpolsterfolien und Plastikflaschen. Das Publikum wird eingeladen durch Spiele und Improvisationen Teil der Performance zu werden und zur Lösung des Problems beizutragen: Wie kommen wir wieder aus dem Wal raus? Sollen wir dem Wal helfen das Plastik loszuwerden? Und wenn ja, wie?

In their new dance theatre piece IM WAL, OOPSALA introduces young audiences to contemporary dance by exploring the topic of waste and ocean pollution through interactive theatre. Three performers bring the audience into their world of deep sea exploration, when suddenly the space is swallowed and they find themselves in the belly of a whale. The audience is invited to join parts of the performance through games and world building, actively involving them by helping the performers to make decisions and contribute to solving problems: how do we get out of the whale? Should we fear the whale or the plastic?

IM WAL engages children's curiosity for dance and movement by questioning how we use  and interact with everyday materials (such as bubble cushions or plastic bottles). By using characters and narrative, we aim to bring climate policy content to the conversation through imagination and humor, making the topics more digestible and tangible for young minds. 

‘IM WAL’ has a playing time of 45 minutes and was developed for - and with - primary schools and day-care centres.
