Join us friday evening for the openign of IN COMPANY by Celina Klohk.
This solo exhibition presents a clear subjective view of the interiority of the artist through everyday situations.
The artworks follow a protagonist navigating a fictional social event, with each painting capturing a different perspective at a distinct moment in the evening. The works explore feelings of social anxiety and pressures of social expectations. Most of the paintings are presented from a first-person perspective, immersing the viewer in the protagonist’s experience.A featured animation portrays the protagonist taking a moment of privacy to recenter, it offers a glimpse into the private, and more vulnerable experience behind the social façade.
At its core, the series continues on an idea Celina been exploring in her practice for some time — the different selves we embody depending on where we are and who we’re with, as well as the general contrast between being alone and being in company.’
