Reading ‘Ghost Season’ and author talk with Fatin Abbas

With Sudanese writer Fatin Abbas and her novel ‘Ghost Season’, our focus moves to the border region between North and South Sudan on the second day. In a sensitive and blunt way, the novel captures the complexity, and consequences of the region's conflict- combined with the effects of colonial continuities. After the reading, we will talk to Tensae Wale Desta about the stories of the novel's characters in the context of historical and current developments in the region.

The event will be held in English.

Admission is free.

‘Freedom, peace, justice - two days for Sudan’

For over two years, a cruel war has been raging in Sudan, out of sight of the world public. We are now setting this against two days focussing on Sudan. Through cultural perspectives, we will look at the recent history of the country and the stories of its people. The two consecutive events are intended to provide an insight into the background to the current situation in Sudan, help us to gain a deeper understanding of it and open our eyes and ears to the stories of those who are living it themselves.

At both events, we will be collecting donations for Emergency Response Rooms in Sudan, which are doing all they can to support the Sudanese population in the midst of the war, whether with food, medicine or shelters.
