The documentary takes us to the year 2018/19 and a revolution that has fundamentally changed the country. While predominantly young people, above all, women, overthrew a dictator through their protests, the ruling elites hit back with a war that continues to this day. But the hope for ‘freedom, peace and justice!’ in Sudan remains. After the documentary, we have the opportunity to talk to Fatin Abbas, a Sudanese writer, and Altayeb Faisal, a contemporary witness of the Sudanese revolution).
The documentary is in Arabic with English subtitles. The film discussion will be held in English.

For over two years, a cruel war has been raging in Sudan, out of sight of the world public. We are now setting this against two days focussing on Sudan. Through cultural perspectives, we will look at the recent history of the country and the stories of its people. The two consecutive events are intended to provide an insight into the background to the current situation in Sudan, help us to gain a deeper understanding of it and open our eyes and ears to the stories of those who are living it themselves.
At both events, we will be collecting donations for Emergency Response Rooms in Sudan, which are doing all they can to support the Sudanese population in the midst of the war, whether with food, medicine or shelters.
