The National Socialist War of Extermination – A Preventable Catastrophe?

September 1st marks 86years since the German invasion of Poland in 1939. In the exhibition “Roads Not Taken” we take a look at the historical turning points that led to this war of extermination. At which turning points in German history were there alternative possibilities that could have prevented the rise of Hitler and the Nazis' conquests? What effects could an earlier intervention by European powers in 1936 or a successful assassination attempt against Hitler in 1944 have had?
