Upupayāma

Upupayāma, the project of Italian multi-instrumentalist Alessio Ferrari, returns with Mount Elephant on Fuzz Club Records. Blending Bhutanese folk, Thai disco, Anatolian psych, and ‘70s kosmische with acid-folk and stoner-rock, the album drifts between dreamy and danceable, with bursts of heavy fuzz. Lead single Moon Needs The Owl Pt. 1 captures a wild Thai disco night dissolving into dawn. Recorded solo in his barn studio, Ferrari’s sound is freer and more rhythmic, layering congas, sitar, erhu, and more. Mount Elephant isn’t about "maturity"—it’s playful, untamed, and fully alive.
