Mathieu Saura, aka Vincent Moon, is an independent filmmaker and sound explorer. Co-creator of the Blogothèque’s Concerts à emporter series devoted to Western indie music, he has spent the past two decades as a nomad, travelling the world with a camera on his back. His Petites Planètes collection - more than 1,300 films released under open source Creative Commons - documents sacred and popular music, trance rituals, and sound experiments from every corner of the globe. Rejecting industry norms and Western narrative conventions, Moon crafts a body of work that questions the hybrid nature of our digital practices and encourages open, collective access to culture.

His “Live Cinéma” performances - immersive, improvisational blends of image and sound - have been presented at hundreds of venues and festivals worldwide, including the MOMA (New York), the Barbican (London), le Jeu de Paume (Paris), Villa Medici (Rome), Le Guess Who (Utrecht), Inhotim (Brazil), Terraforma (Milano), Café Oto (London), the MEG (Geneva), the Eye (Amsterdam), le Musée du Quai Branly (Paris), Fès Sacred Music Festival (Morocco), Big Ears (Tennessee), Irtijal (Beirut), the Humbold Forum (Berlin), MASP (São Paulo), Ozora (Hungary), Zébulon (Los Angeles), Breaking Convention (UK) - and in cities as diverse as Kathmandu, Vilnius, Taipei, Calcutta, Tbilisi, Mexico City, Tokyo, Amman…

A collective jam with some of Gaswerksiedlung Berlin’s most exciting artists brings it all home. Mapping new sonic geographies, this day pays tribute to intuition, exploration, and edge-walking experimentation.

Gaswerk Music Days (12.07. - 19.07.) is the summer music festival organized by Gaswerksiedlung Berlin and taking place in its lush gardens, BLOCK1 event space, and creative studios. The event unites experimental electronics, African sounds, jazz, noise, avant-pop, kraut, improvisation and dance music under its “Radical Live Music” flag, binding and crossing genres in a program with over 20 acts on 2 stages.

Overcoming the classic fractures among genres, our program is devoted to live music, challenging sound, improvisation and discovery. We foster those who take risks and push the boundaries, we establish grounds of exchange whilst cultivating diversity, embodying a proud alternative to a mainstream-dominated music ecosystem.
