A sensorial journey: taste, touch, sound, space. A story rooted in coffee, unfolding moment by moment. Three years in the making

we invite you to experience a sensorial improvisation of the senses. we are guiding you into a space that allows you to witness a story from touch of a token, to witnessing the focused preparation of a brew while listening to it and being taken into another realm by the keys of a piano. all while the background of an ethiopian forest anchors your soul. together we are rooting new memories and evoking old ones to crop up by observing their interconnectedness. these flowing into moments that are unique to each of us yet we are sharing a supported space. moments migrate into the next moment. our senses are the key to open the door observing the movement in between. stepping into something new, never experienced, yet oddly familiar.

wush wush 

is a small town in gimbo woreda of the keffa zone. in the 70s a mother seed from an indigenous coffee tree was collected in the forest of wush wush for further research in coffee plant diseases. it was found to be resistant. that seed then was named after the village stewarding the local forest. in 2023 we traveled there to the highlands of in southwestern ethiopia experiencing a rich biodiversity. during our time we collected moments by recording sounds, coffee talks, chatter and wildlife. when revisiting these we noticed a space in between moments. a glimpse of improvisation of daily interactions to what our senses where confronted by. we listened to one moment moving over into the next while the forest being the audience to our chatter or movements. we call it migration of moments. it opened a door to observing that in our day-to-day, too.

the seed we are serving during the ceremony is a wush wush cultivar that migrated from ethiopia to ecuador. since 2017 it is cultivated by a father and two sons in the high altitudes of the andes in rich volcanic soil. the roast it profiled by our korean friend of gemi roasters concluding the migration of moments from seed to cup. 

the reopened coffee room in schlachthofpassage by juicy project sets a juxtaposition. the brutalist building functions as a stark reminder to the industry of coffee production and lengthy journey the seed took to arrive where it is now. the soft set design and ceremonial approach contradicts yet opens the imagination to a different way of coming together for experiencing moments within our daily industrial consumption patterns.

we invite 30 guests to join us in an intimate sensorial storytelling experience, held across three sessions of 10 people each.

Before your session begins, you’ll be welcomed outside the venue, where a short initiation sets the tone. You’ll then be gently guided into the space.

Once inside, you’re free to take your seat, explore the atmosphere, and read a small leaflet prepared for you—or simply settle into the environment.

In front of you, a small token awaits. During the session, this token will be used to serve you two distinct extractions, each part of the unfolding story.

After the experience, the token is yours to keep—a tangible reminder of the moments we shared.
