Your Character's Inner World - Intensive Improv Workshop

Characters are the most important component of any story!

The most compelling characters usually have a lot of depth to them, visible through their motivation, personal story, and way of being. In improv having those elements in your back pocket, even if you don't end up using them in a particular scene, will make your stage persona more palpable, more memorable, and more consistent.

This workshop focuses on the inner world of a character, or so-called "inside-out" character creation, to bring complex personalities to life. We will explore defining ourselves on stage through core personality traits, and then refining to make them unique through specific motivation and back story. The resulting complexity could add depth to a longform performance or grounded scene.

Level

Improvisers of all levels are welcome, and feedback will be tailored to where you’re at.

About the teacher

Georgi has been passionate about improv since discovering the artform in 2017. He founded The Blue Couch improv group a year later, where he serves as creative director and regularly performs longform shows. In 2024 he co-founded Edge Improv Lab in order to share his knowledge and experience with others in Munich. Also in 2024 he co-founded The Mind Meld, a platform that enables improvisers from different local groups and communities to play together. He occasionally runs workshops at Rice Cookie Improv. You can also find him every year at the Sofia Improv Festival.

Payment

The price of the workshop is 60 EUR, or 48 EUR for students.

Important things to know

Please bring non-slip socks or ideally a second pair of shoes. We are not allowed to use our street shoes in the venue, and the floor can be slippery. We highly recommend comfortable clothes which allow for movement and possibly sitting on the floor.

We ask that you do not take photos or videos during the session.

The workshop is in English.

You may cancel for a full refund until one week before the start. Cancellation after that date is not possible.
