When talking about German rap, the name Prinz Pi should not go unmentioned. The Berliner is quite rightly considered by his fans to be on the same level as rap greats such as Sido, Eko Fresh and others. His controversial and socially critical songs are the main reason why Prinz Pi's shows are regularly among the absolute highlights at relevant festivals.

Born in 1979 in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin, Friedrich Kauz initially made a name for himself in the German hip-hop scene under the pseudonym Prinz Porno. The son of a Czech refugee family initially lived out his artistic talent as a talented sprayer. However, his breakthrough came with his passion for music.

Prince Pi, alias Friedrich Kauz, initially opted for a crisis-proof education rather than a career in the risky music business. He attended the humanistic grammar school in Berlin-Steglitz and began studying communication design at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art in 2002. However, his passion for rapping was to influence his life in a different direction.

In 1998, the capital city native caused a stir with a song on the hip-hop compilation "Berlin Nr. 1 Vol. 1", which also featured Kool Savas, among others. With his own sampler "Porno Privat", including the track "Keine Liebe", Prinz Pi then made a triumphal march through the Internet - even though the album was not actually intended for the public and was released online via friends and acquaintances. he is in the book

Prinz Pi can rightly call himself a workhorse, because he writes and produces non-stop. From the very beginning, his works have been characterized by socially critical themes: The rapper deals with worldwide grievances critically and sometimes provocatively.

Prinz Pi's tours take him through countless concert halls - and the musician also enters into numerous collaborations with other artists. Tickets for Prinz Pi are also in great demand at festivals

In 2004, Friedrich Kauz temporarily left the business, only to reappear on the scene a year later under the new artist name Prinz Pi. The second version of his solo sampler "Teenage Mutant Horror Show" even lands in the top 50 of the German album charts for two weeks.

Many tracks, albums and joint productions followed, including with Casper and RAF Camora. Prinz Pi's tireless hard work is rewarded with sold-out concert halls and numerous chart placements. Things are also going well for the father of three in his private life.

A particular highlight in Prinz Pi's career was his trip to Tanzania in 2008, where he recorded several songs together with local young people as part of the "Virus Free Generation Hip-Hop" tour. In these songs, he addresses AIDS, an immunodeficiency disease that is still widespread worldwide, but particularly in Africa.

Prinz Pi can undoubtedly join the ranks of the most successful German rap artists. The proof of this is not only the size of his following, but also his regular appearances in the German charts, including the albums "Kompass ohne Norden" (2013), "pp=mc²" (2015) and "Im Westen nix Neues" (2016), which all reached number 1. Awards such as the German Music Authors' Prize also show that Prinz Pi is also well received outside his typical audience.
